Meet Dr. Megan RomePelvic Floor and Obstetrics Physical Therapist, Owner
Hi, I'm Dr. Megan! I am a native of South Carolina graduating from the College of Charleston but moved to Florida while gaining my Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. After practicing many years in Florida, we moved back to Charleston where I created my dream career, Rome Physical Therapy.
Why Women's Health PT? While in school, my mom was diagnosed with pelvic pain after being passed from doctor to doctor without any tests to explain her symptoms. Turns out, it was scar tissue from her cesarean deliveries. How many women go to physical therapy after childbirth? LESS THAN 5%! It was that moment in time when I found myself compassionately interested in Pelvic Health within Physical Therapy. After going through many Continuing Education Courses, I realized I too had experienced some pelvic pain and discomfort and realized a giant gap in treatment for women with pelvic floor dysfunctions. I have continued my research and training in Pelvic Health, obstetrics, and breast cancer across the country over the past few years.Currently, I am privileged to make changes for those in need in order to decrease pain, dysfunction and even fear! My Philosophy? It is important to understand what is going on but more importantly, WHY did it happen in the first place. I believe in receiving noticeable results within 3-5 visits while identifying self autonomy for you to help regain control over your own life! I believe functional treatments that you can use in your every day life rather than lying on your back making me do the work! It's your body. You need to understand whats going on and TOGETHER we can fix it! |
About Dr. Allison ParkerPelvic Floor and Obstetrics Physical Therapist
Hi, I'm Dr. Allison! I have been practicing outpatient orthopedics since moving to Charleston in 2016. I am originally from Rochester, NY where I earned my BS and Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Nazareth College of Rochester. After furthering my knowledge and education, pelvic health had become a new passion. It brings a whole new light to physical therapy!
Why Women's Health PT? After dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction of my own, I realized how important education is for women, especially in the prenatal and postpartum community. The reason why I got into PT was so people can do what they want and not be restricted with movement. Now fast forward to pelvic floor PT… I realized just how much women need this kind of PT! Women should be able to run and jump or laugh and sneeze without peeing on themselves! I feel people should be able to do what they want with their kids without pain or taking a bunch of medications! I have a very strong passion for pelvic floor PT and look forward to continuing to serve and empower the women of the Lowcountry. My Philosophy? I use a whole-body treatment approach with emphasis on function to help patients achieve their goals and restore their independence. I love helping women better understand their bodies and return to activities they never thought they would be able to do again. I emphasis function. If you like running, let's look at running. If you are having issues lifting your baby, let's lift your baby! I like looking at the whole body to help with day-to-day activities from a wholistic approach! |
About Dr. Jenny SchultzPelvic Floor and Obstetrics Physical Therapist
Hi I am Dr. Jennifer but you can call me Jenny. I have been practicing orthopedics and pelvic floor therapy since 2015. I have practiced in Overland Park, KS and St. Louis, MO before relocating to Summerville, SC for my husband's job. I got my bachelor’s degree at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS (Rock Chalk Jayhawk) and my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS (go Spires). I am a physical therapist and a professional figure skating coach. I have interests in figure skating, dance, running, kayaking, and hiking.
Why Women’s Health Physical Therapy? My first physical therapy job out of school challenged me to take on pelvic floor cases. After training, further education, and mentorship I discovered the importance of caring for the pelvic floor and my passion developed. My second job in St. Louis, MO elevated my skills and helped develop my philosophy for pregnancy and postpartum care. As a new mother I can truly attest the importance of pelvic floor therapy. I believe that all women should be able to do all activities without pain , discomfort, or leaking. I have a strong passion for pelvic floor physical therapy and believe that women should not have to live with or think their symptoms are normal. My Philosophy? I believe that everyone has a story to tell and everyone should be heard. I believe in the whole body approach and finding out the reason WHY things happened. I love helping women achieve their goals and return to the activities they need and love to do. |
Meet Jenna SmithFront Desk Coordinator
I started my management career in my early college days while I was studying to become a Veterinary Nurse. I helped manage different companies ranging from a run-down truck stop to a very busy massage therapy clinic. During my 10 years in the veterinary field, not only did I nurse but I kept my administrative spark by helping to create new training protocols, training new and upcoming veterinary nursing students, and handled a multitude of administrative and client service responsibilities. In early 2021 I felt called to return to business and office management.
I live in Summerville with my partner Matt and my 5-year-old daughter Rhegan. We have 4 dogs-Luna, Leilah, Tess, and Izzy, 5 cats - Melly, Toast, Sasha, Cricket, and Tom, 7 Hens, and our Rooster conveniently named Rooster. I still nurse one Saturday a month and when the weather is nice you can find me in my kayak on the Edisto River or in a pool! |
