Women's Health
Laura Before I even knew about physical therapy for urinary incontinence, I felt there was no hope for me. Eight vaginal births had taken a toll on my body; I couldn’t take walks around the block or leave my house without anxiety. Skeptically, I met with Megan and cried through our initial assessment, thinking there wasn’t an easy solution. Quickly, Megan gained my trust and admiration. Not only was she clear with her explanations, but enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She taught me techniques that I would never have thought of— and in a short time, I was able to sneeze without changing my clothes. Now I’m taking long hikes, running, and going on road trips without constantly having to go to the bathroom. Physical therapy with Megan Rome has changed my daily life and the way I look at everyday activities. |
Kaylee I’ve had the pleasure of working with Megan on a business level and a personal level. She is extremely passionate about what she does and strives to provide the best care and education she can for her patients. I’m a pre and postnatal fitness instructor, having Megan to collaborate with to provide better care and guidance for women has been amazing! Over the past year, we have hosted several workshops together on Women’s Health and Fitness. From educating women on the common, but not normal “motherhood” symptoms, to learning how to workout safely during and after pregnancy. Megan helped me through my postpartum journey and gave me guidance on healing my diastasis. It doesn’t matter if you’re 6 weeks postpartum or 12 years postpartum, Megan can help you through your journey!! |
Lymphedema
Jessica I became Megan's patient during the one of the most traumatic and painful experiences of my life. Prior to and after my bilateral mastectomy she treated me with compassion and understanding. She was able to ease my lymphedema symptoms through massage and gave me practical exercises and techniques to use at home as well. I always felt comfortable and at ease during such personal treatments. I am so thankful for her wonderful smile, compassion and expertise during such a trying time in life. |
Joanne I recently completed my sessions with Megan for Lymphedema of the Breast tissue after surgery and radiation. Not a great year ! I wanted to relay my appreciation and extreme satisfaction with Megan and my therapy. Megan was Excellent..Megan was always on top of my case. She took the time to explain the Lymphatic System and the medical reasons for why I was swollen and in pain. I appreciated that, as most professionals don't take the time to explain the procedures...She did !! She taught me the Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) system, which also involved breathing exercises to reduce swelling and pain throughout the week and measured my success the following weekly visit. I needed to learn this, and she was so patient, professional, and knowledgeable and also explained the different stages of Lymphedema, so I would understand how important it was for me to do the work and breathing...for which I am so grateful..We don't always follow directions!!! Most importantly Megan was supportive, and encouraging and I enjoyed her enthusiasm, warm, and friendly personality at each physical therapy session! What a positive experience this has been for me! |
Breast Cancer
Rhonda From the beginning, I felt at ease working with Megann, despite some initial nerves about the idea of getting physical therapy in the first place. We met prior to my surgery – bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and lymph node removal—she knew ahead of time what to plan on and the stretches she taught me afterward were just what I needed to target the muscles that were tight and sore post-procedure. Progress went smoothly, I never felt rushed or forced, and I didn’t feel like I dreaded going to sessions because I knew we’d work together. She always wanted me to heal at my own pace, without pushing so hard that I would risked feeling painful from the work in the sessions. Together we hit every goal and now I have my flexibility back and more strength in my arms, perhaps even than before this all started. Megann is wonderful. She’s knowledgeable and trustworthy. I felt completely comfortable working with her and would do so again. |
Becci As an active, 51 year old, I chose not to reconstruct after my bilateral mastectomy. I just wanted to heal, get back to my active schedule and “just feel normal.” Lymphedema and quality of life was a real concern for me. With that very first evaluation, Megan put my fears to rest and assured me that with proper exercise, care and knowledge, the chances of lymphedema decreased tremedously! Along with a focused stretching and exercise routine, Megan utilized state-of-the-art techniques to alleviate tightness and discomfort. Within a few short weeks, I had almost full range of motion back. Megan’s vast knowledge, paired with her caring and soothing nature, made what I expected to be an uncomfortable scenario, actually very relaxing. Our sessions allowed me to talk through many of my concerns and questions while she was giving treatment. |
