Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy:
We perform a thorough evaluation of the whole body including an external pelvic exam and an internal pelvic floor exam. Here, we are looking at perineal body mobility, pelvic floor strength, muscle coordination, pelvic floor muscle endurance, as well as tender points within the muscle and prolapse assessments. With the internal exams, we perform those in many positions including lying down, standing as well as functional movements like lifting and bending! |
We perform a structured examination where we look at breathing and rib cage mobility. This is huge as it can directly impact the pelvic floor— either with tightness or weakness! We also look at hip strength and mobility as that can positively or negatively affect our floor! We also check out core strength to minimize diastasis recti as well as any negative pressure that could push down onto the pelvic floor. We also make sure you can use your low core to reduce the "mom pooch" and stop your upper abs from over working!
